Disappointing Pool Closure Set by Presidents during Siesta time

The Presidents are now starting to inform residents that the swimming pool will close EVERY DAY for cleaning during the summer months between the hours of 3.30-5.30pm during Siesta.

The 'siesta' argument has been a bone of contention over many years and this ruling has come as highly unwelcome news to many Spanish and Foreign owners alike.

It appears that a select few homeowners who purchased their properties overlooking the pool, benefitting from "the fantastic views of the Sierra Nevadas" feel that they wish to slumber or relax during Siesta and have decided that all of their neighbours (whether they want to or not) need to fall in line. Not content with the previously agreed "quiet time" during these hours to create a middle ground so that most people are happy - it now appears that dictatorship is becoming the norm and only a complete cessation of all pool activity is acceptable.

The presidents have yielded to this very small pressure group despite the majority of residents wishing to have access to the pool during the hottest hours of the day - several of whom also live in properties overlooking the pool who say that noise isn't an issue.

It's also not gone unnoticed that they are creating a situation for the pool attendant where he now needs to clean the pool at the hottest time of the day rather than during the relative cool of the early morning or evening. This is extremely poor staff management and quite unnecessary. The comfort and safety of staff on site should always be a key consideration.

Notes about this ruling - and in particular minutes of the meeting showing "who, how and why" this new rule was created has been requested - but as yet no reply received.

Many have voiced that they will be ignoring this ruling as the Presidents appear to be taking it upon themselves to make up the rules as they go along - rather than do their actual job of representing the majority of homeowners wishes.
