The past few weeks have seen our village in mourning as local 31 year old Francisco Pedrosa Gijón (known as Paco to his friends) was killed in an horrific road accident in India on 5th August around 10am on a humanitarian mission.
He was travelling with nine other companions in Chittoor (as part of a volunteer group working with the Spanish rural development trust, Fundación Vicente Ferrer, who provide housing for the poor). Indian authorities in Andhra Pradesh confirm that a driver of a speeding container lorry lost control and ploughed into the minibus that he was travelling in. The force of the crash meant half of the minibus was mangled and victims crushed.
As well as Paco, three other Spaniards from Ronda also lost their lives as well as their Indian driver, with six other Spanish nationals and one Indian injured (two seriously). Paco was the youngest victim to lose his life.

Paco comes from a well known family in the village who run Café Bar Alhambra. Local planned festivities were put on hold as the Town Hall declared official mourning in support of the family.
Last week Paco's funeral was held and the turnout was huge. This has been a devastating blow for his family and friends - Paco was full of energy and life.

For those of you that knew him, you might find his blog comforting and interesting to read which can be found here:
