Home Security &
Services for Absent Owners

Our local English Residents, Jan and John Gill, based in Block H are always on hand to help owners look after their properties. Jan and John were the very first people to buy a property here on this urbanisation back in 2008 (prior to the bank taking it over). They work hard for a number of clients who want help and peace of mind, to keep their property in good order during their absence and help keep all the Presidents on their toes!

Jan and John offer a general service from 20 euros per month, which includes a thorough check at least once a month (and another check after heavy rain).

The basic €20 service includes:

* Key holding service (no more worrying about lost keys at the beach!)

* Home airing - arrive to a freshly aired home with no bad smells (toilets get flushed, water run, windows opened)

* Peace of mind - receive regular home visits to ensure no criminal activity or property damage due to high winds or rain

* Assistance in voting at the elections

* Regular updates re: what's happening

* Arrangement of emergency repairs on your behalf where required

Optional extras include:

* Handing out keys to guests on arrival (€10)

* Cleaning apartment after guests, ready for the next family (€50)

* Authorisation for pool passes

* Washing of bed linen and towels and remaking beds

* Emptying of dishwasher

* Emptying and cleaning fridge

* Washing floors throughout the property

* Washing small rugs and towels

* Cleaning the bathroom/toilets/kitchen

* Arranging for WiFi to be installed

* Arranging for English TV to be installed
* Buying in basic supplies such as water, milk, bread etc if shops are shut when you arrive

Useful Contacts and Tradesmen

Here's a list of useful contacts for all Owners. If any owner would like to add another contact please email nicola123@gmail.com with their details together with a photo.

Home repairs, Decorating & Gen Maintenance

Another 'favourite' used by the ex-pats are undoubtedly John and Laura King. They do so much work on everyone's apartments that most people think they actually live here on the urbanisation (they 'live just up the road'!).

John and Laura both emigrated to Spain with their kids in around 2003 and John has built up a wealth of good contacts. If necessary he can pull in the people with the best skills for the job - depending on what you need - although he does most of the work by himself with his wife Laura assisting. Laura is also the main painter/decorator and does all of the arty stuff such as mosiacs and artwork - and is happy to be left in charge of selecting the right colour choices for you, if you simply can't decide on the perfect palette!

John and Laura essentially cater to everyone and have the ethos of 'no job is too small'. So - essentially they will do everything from hanging up pictures through to renovations. Type of work undertaken generally includes:

- general maintenance

- electrics

- plumbing

- kitchen fitting

- staining

- tiling

- terrace maintenance

Personally I've utilised their services for painting my external wooden windows and doors, fitting a new external light, fitting a new bathroom sink unit with overhead mirror and lights, putting up curtain rails in the bedrooms, fixing the downstairs loo which stopped flushing, fitting a handrail leading to the terrace and a few other small jobs besides. The next thing they've got on their list is to paint the outside for me - and all I can say is that I've found them very reliable, honest and fairly priced.

Their contact numbers are:

John King: +34 673 706 372

You can also contact them on WhatsApp using these numbers.

Local Village
Carpenters

Carpinteria Los Buenos

These carpenters were recommended to us - and their work is top quality.

They're located on the main road running through the village, opposite the Guardia Civil Office and next to the Kitchen company (if you were heading up towards Granada they would be on your right hand side). Their details are:

C/ Mariana Pineda, 86

Velez De Benaudilla, Andalucia, Spain

+34 669 13 26 49

Hours: 08:00 - 14:00, 15:30 - 20:00

They offer new furniture (sofas, beds, bedside tables, headboards) at cheap prices - which they tend to order in direct from the factories (noting that most factories in Spain close down during the month of August) - and they make up the Toldos (sun blinds) in the brown/orange colours chosen by the Community, plus make Persian blinds used on the outside of most windows/doors in Spain. They also build things from scratch in wood and have carried out work such as fitting out interior wardrobes or making cabinets etc.

Judging from their facebook site, they also originally worked on Los Terrazas del Jardin Nazari when it was first being built. Nice friendly team but they don't speak much English although last time I went in there I saw some new faces who could!
